SOMETHING SIMPLY…. becomes CURRENTLY TUESDAYS…

I’ve been useless with my SOMETHING SIMPLY SPECIAL SOMEDAYS… again. I spoke to my friend Alex Beadon about this and she thought it needed to be on a certain day each week. And if I couldn’t make that week, I had to write and plan it beforehand. And she’s absolutely correct.

But I’m going to simplify it. It’s fine to change things, right? Always be open to flexibility.

So, now, inspired by my other lovely friend Bobbi and her blog, it’s going to be CURRENTLY TUESDAYS. Here is the first in the series.

*WORKING ON….

Yesterday I completed an album design for Sab & Erkan and sent off their first pdf proofing. Since finishing that off I’ve been re-visiting my bookmarks and asking on Facebook/Twitter for links to new photography/foodie/design blogs or websites to bookmark for those days where you want some INSPIRATION. So far I’ve come across Annette Wilson. I just adore how she captures regular life with such peace and beauty. I ‘liked’ her on her Facebook page and then this morning I received this email from her: “Hi Claudia Rooose! I noticed your Like on my page, clicked through to see that our only mutual friend was Sean Flanigan, so I figured you MUST be a photographer, so I looked you up, and was brought to your BEAUTIFUL SITE! Your pictures are so wonderful and clean and beautiful, I love your work! SO I thought I should say hello :) Hello :)

I mean how lovely is that?! Also this week I will be visiting my friend and wonderful designer Erin from Berinmade in order to photograph new DIY projects for a monthly column she has on Love My Dress. Here is one as an example!

*LISTENING TO…

In our house, I have to say, MG rules the Spotify playlists. This morning it’s been The Who but I’ve also indulged in a little Umi Says by Mos Def. Black On Both Sides is a wonderful album. Although I do LOVE the song on the new Dior advert.

*EATING…

In my concerted efforts to be healthier and lose some weight before late 2013 I’ve been cutting down our meal sizes and I’m stopping before I eat to work out if I am hungry or not. We do an online weekly shop using mysupermarket.com which tells you if you can get the same products cheaper from a selection of different stores. Sainsburys is always my number one go to, but I’ll do a Waitrose if it’s only a few ££ more. Luxury and all that! Last night I made Jamie Oliver’s American Southern Sausage Stew but didn’t finish it as I always seem to make too much rice. This morning I had toast with peanut butter and a coffee. It’s unlikely we’ll have lunch but I’ll make an earlyish dinner of Thai Chicken Soup with udon noodles. Yum!

*SNUGGLING IN…

New duvet cover from John Lewis. Blue and white spots! I just love JL. It’s like walking in to excellence. Actually, this is from the John Lewis bedding bit in Waitrose but tomatoe, tomato.

*LOOKING FORWARD TO…

Everything! A client phone call today of a potential enquiry, making udon noodles later tonight, seeing Erin tomorrow as mentioned earlier, then shooting Bekah’s graduation on Thursday, then Faustine & Patrice’s wedding on Saturday, then Sophie & Tom’s pre-wedding on Sunday. That’s just for this week!

I’ve also just secured time with Carl Zoch next year. Waaaaaaaaaaaahhhooooooooo!

*THINKING ABOUT…

How this new blog is going to go down…! I wanted something that I can do quickly, but still be interesting. And stick to every week. I’m also thinking about how best to keep reaching followers every day via social media and have a consistent voice. I’ve started using my Buffer account every day so that I can have a presence even if I’m away from the office or unable to be posting. I want to find interesting links and stories on the internet and be able to share them with the world. I want to have a blog that both photographers, friends and clients love to visit. It’s all a work in progress.

Anyway, for this week, that’s it! Would love your thoughts and comments.

SOMETHING SIMPLY SPECIAL SOMEDAYS PART THREE

Happy Sunday all! It’s been a chaotic couple of weeks for me, as we’ve been shooting in Italy and literally just back today from the gorgeous Fforest campsite in Wales. As much as I enjoy the sunshine, there is a lot to be said for coming from 38 degree heat back to a chill in the air in London and then on to rain in a tent in Wales. Jetsetters, don’t you know!

It’s also been an amazing couple of weeks and especially having so much incredible feedback from Lauren & Adam’s wedding photographs at Pale & Interesting has boosted my spirits through the roof. I’m hoping to shoot some family portrait work from the back of it, and I’ve also secured a meeting with a couple and their farm which just sounds exquisite. So excited. Plus another last minute wedding booking for a civil partnership {remember I shot Arkin & Simon’s?} and needless to say I’m a very happy C.

Other than everything I mentioned above, this time of the blog is when I share links that have been featured in my Facebook group or general things I’ve come across. As always, please feel free to share yours in the comments!

*I’ve updated my own website this week, with new pricing structure and brand new images. Check it out here.

*A design blog for all of you creatives out there… Pugly Pixel.

*Exquisite children’s portraits by Emma Wood.

*My friend Hannah is off to Uganda!

This week I wanted to share with you a day in VSCO photographs. Recently MG did a portrait / post-wedding shoot with fellow photographer Chris and his wife Ruth in London town and I decided to embark on a personal photography project using my IPhone.

SOMETHING SIMPLY SPECIAL SOMEDAYS PART TWO

Good afternoon and happy Sunday all. This week has been super hectic, beginning with a wonderful trip out to London Zoo to meet the gorgeous Michelle & Paul with MG ready for their wedding next week. Here’s a little teaser of what that looked like:

I haven’t been since I was about five years old, so it was as much of a new adventure for me as the starts of a new adventure in marriage for them!

The rest of the week was spent catching up on a lot of admin, changing my pricing structure and sending out recent weddings for features on the UK’s leading wedding blogs. All very good fun!

This week is just something quick, but I feel very important. I don’t want to explain too much so I’ll hand it over to the lovely Emma Case to explain on her blog…

PLEASE CLICK HERE!

This is the reason I shoot a narrative. This is the reason I get to know my clients. This is why I want clients that want ME to shoot their wedding. An inspiring letter.

As discussed in the first entry in this new series of blog posts, I wanted to include some links here to things other photographers in my Facebook group find inspiring. I hope you enjoy them and please do share anything in the comments that you have seen and LOVED recently!

*Documenting Uganda… Echwalu Photography.

*Family & children’s photography just the way I love to shoot it… Tim Coulson featured.

*Creatives Inspire Me…. Calvin Harris ft Those Guys choreography.

*A series of self portraits…. Alex Stoddard.

Let me know what you thought of those!

For now, big love.

SOMETHING SIMPLY SPECIAL SOMEDAYS PART ONE

Hello world. I know, I know; I missed a week. Three weddings in a row = exhaustion followed by a truck drive to France and back = extra exhaustion.

I’m back and… I’ve been doing some thinking. Although I said in the first week that if I could not post on the Sunday I would allow myself a few days leeway, it somehow takes the magic away from the title of the blog itself. Given that it’s Something Simply Special Sundays.

{Just a note here – Until approximately 10 months ago, I was always scared of this. Failure. Let down. Inconsistency. And… it’s fine to keep refining ideas. If something isn’t working, surely it’s positive to change it?}

So, the new title, grammatically correct or not, is….

It allows me to post on whichever day of the week I like, although my plan was always to have this post as a round up of the week so it’ll be at the end of a week or early the following week.

My happy list will now also include links from my Facebook group where the members are currently required to post a link to what is inspiring them at the moment on their chosen day. So many of these are being added to my bookmarks that I felt it only fair to share them with you, world, also. Please do share any links you’ve found this week in the comments.

Cognitive Perceptions will also change and become…

So, for this week, I will be leaving it there other than to share the link to a blog that is eternally inspiring me.

Nirrimi Firebrace…… blown away.

I’ll be back here later in the week with more words and pictures.

All my best,
CC xo
